USD 490 Preschool Programs

4-Year-Old Program at Blackmore Elementary
El Dorado Public Schools will offer the 4-Year-Old Preschool Program to students at Blackmore Elementary this fall to provide learning readiness activities to children who qualify for the program.

Children must live in USD 490, be four years of age on or before August 31, 2018 and meet one of the following criteria: 1) qualifies for free meals, 2) single parent families, 3) DCF referral (need letter), 4) teen parent or parents when child was born, 5) one parent lacking a high school diploma or GED, 6) qualifies for migrant status, 7) limited English proficiency, 8) developmentally or academically delayed based on validated assessment.

Applications for the program will be available 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 2, at Blackmore Elementary, 530 N. Orchard St., El Dorado (316-322-4850). Parents are asked to bring the child’s birth certificate and immunization record.


Early Childhood Special Education at Blackmore, Grandview, and Skelly
USD 490 also offers early childhood special education classes at Skelly Elementary, Grandview Elementay, and Blackmore Elementary to qualifying children ages three to five. The Butler County Special Education Cooperative offers Count Your Kid In developmental screenings. The purpose of these free screenings is to help parents identify potential learning problems and find help.
