When a student enters El Dorado Middle School, there are a number of extra-curricular activities that become available to them.  Many of these activities focus on the development of students as productive and involved members of society.  There are also a number of athletic activities for our 6th grade students to become involved in.  The following information helps to explain some of the extra-curricular activities that are available at El Dorado Middle School.
Circle of Friends
Circle of Friends is an organization that was developed to give students the opportunity to pair up with special needs students throughout the building.  These students are considered "Buddies" and they spend time with the special needs students a couple of times a month and on various field trips throughout the year.  This has given many of our students a greater understanding of our students with special needs, and it has helped to form some bonds that other wise might not have developed.

Mrs. Connie Allmond is the Circle of Friends sponsor at EMS.  You can check out her website to obtain more specific information about Circle of Friends and to see a variety of pictures of the activities that the students take part in.

Kansas Association for Youth (KAY)

The Kansas Association for Youth (KAY) is a character-building, leadership-training, service program directed by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.  This nationally acclaimed organization provides students an opportunity to learn to assume their citizenship responsibilities and to enrich their personalities through well-organized programs, projects, and parties.  These projects emphasize four areas of service - school, community, nation, and world

The Kansas Association for Youth is a student association that is unique to Kansas.  The KSHSAA proudly offers this activity to Kansas students, through its member schools, as a means to "make a world of difference" for current and future generations.

Mrs. Deanna Robinson and Ms. Kori Green are the KAY sponsor at El Dorado Middle School.
Student Council (STUCO)
Student Council (STUCO) provides for student activities, servingas a training experience for both leaders and followers, promotes the common good, gives students a share in the management of the school, develops high ideals for personal conduct, acts as a clearing house for student activities, seeks to interest students in school affairs, and helps solve problems that may arise.  Members of STUCO are student representatives and have direct access to the school administration.

Mr. Les Limon and Mrs. Kelly Paye are the STUCO sponors this year at EMS.  Please feel free to contact either Mr. Limon or Mrs. Paye if you have any questions about the program or ideas for STUCO to consider in the future.
