USD 490 BOE names new superintendent
Teresa Tosh begins leadership of USD 490 on July 1, 2019.

The USD 490 Board of Education has announced the selection of Teresa Tosh as the new superintendent. Mrs. Tosh will take the reins on July 1, 2019 after the retirement of Sue Givens at the end of the 2018-19 school year.

Mrs. Tosh has broad educational experience as a teacher, administrator and an educator of educators. She has been Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services for USD 261 Haysville Public Schools and has overseen curriculum, instruction and professional development.

Students in our schools succeed because they are quality students focused on preparing for their future. We feel our staff and administration support student learning and educational opportunities that will ensure they are prepared for career or college.

Board President Norm Wilks says that Mrs. Tosh emerged from a very thorough search process as the right candidate to lead the School District. “The Board is certain in our choice of Teresa and confident that under her leadership USD 490 will continue to be recognized as the “Best of the Best” as determined for the past three consecutive years in the Butler County Times-Gazette annual reader poll. She will focus on improved opportunities for our students by building on the excellent instructional foundation in USD 490.”

Wilks, Board President, explained that community input including a community survey open to all staff, parents, and patrons was a key factor in the success of the superintendent search process. “The input from the community as a whole was very helpful to our process.”

The Board selected five finalists, who were interviewed by the Board.

“As a board team, we feel we made the right selection to serve our students and our community as we look to achieve our goals,” said Wilks.
