Partners In Education Foundation Inc, (PIE) is pleased to announce a new program facilitated through PIE.
John & Michelle Banks wish to provide support for students in need within the El Dorado School system. These items may include clothing, school supplies, personal hygiene items, art/music lessons, or some other form of assistance not yet identified. We anticipate this support will be for the remaining part of this school year, plus the next four, depending on the need and available funding. We are calling the program Mrs. Banks’ Closet.
“We know there are students in need in our community," the Banks family said. "Many students are without funds for glasses to see the whiteboard, winters coats for recess, appropriate clothing for the extreme cold or hot, socks, undergarments, etc. We are proud to be a product of the El Dorado schools and enjoy living in this community. El Dorado has been good to our family and we wanted to give back to those young people who may need help.”
Katie Banks-Todd will be facilitating the program by communicating with the district’s school principals, counselors, and other staff. This process is designed to allow requests for need to remain flexible, efficient and confidential.
Anyone wishing to benefit from the program should reach out to whom they feel most comfortable with at their school.
“The El Dorado Schools are so fortunate to have graduates like the Banks Family, who continue to care about the needs of our students and remain involved in supporting them well-beyond their own graduation date," Superintendent Sue Givens said. "Truly, this is an example of how our community contributes to making our district ‘Uniquely 490’.”
