EHS freshman Jalen Rice was named the Power 93.5 Super Car Kid of the week for August 26-30.
In an effort to recognize students who are doing great things academically, athletically, or in their community, Power 93.5, Super Car Guys, and Papa John's partnered to create the Super Car Kid of the Week program.
Jalen's mom, Denna Rice, nominated him because of his participation in football, basketball, and track as well as his strong academic performance. He maintained good grades, qualifying for the EMS honor roll and received the citizenship award as an eighth grade student. Denna said many younger students look up to Jalen as a role model.
"We have parents of elementary kids coming up to us constantly, letting us know how Jalen has impacted or shown kindness to their child," Mrs. Rice said.
Weekly winners receive a $100 VISA gift card and a pizza party for their class, and also become eligible for the Super Car Kid of the Year. Whichever student is chosen for for that honor will receive $1,000 and an additional $1,000 will be donated to the student's school.
Parents can nominate their children for the award on Power 93.5's website.
