EHS seniors receive Myrrl Houck Memorial Scholarship
Fourteen seniors were awarded the Myrrl Houck Memorial Scholarship for demonstrating academic excellence.
The recipients were: Evan Barkus, Sarah Cavallaro, Karley Faudere, Ryan Hus, Raygon Gomez, Jake Johnson, Garrett Meyer, Mallory Parsons, Nalea Payton, Louie Tipton, Brittie Towner, Nate Walker, Kai Wernli, and Kimberly Yates.
Students received awards amounting to $500 each, producing a total of $184,090 in scholarships which have been granted to 619 students since the Houck scholarship program began in 1960.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be Summa Cum Laude graduates and earn at least a 3.8 GPA in academically-challenging classes including four units of Honors English, Geometry, Advanced Algebra II, Trigonometry/Math Analysis, Science (3 credits that included Chemistry and Physics), and two years of the same foreign language.
