The El Dorado High School football team volunteered time after practice to help redistribute rubber mulch on Skelly Elementary's playground on July 16.
In just over an hour, the team was able to redistribute over 40,000 pounds of rubber mulch across the playground, improving the play surface for more than 300 elementary school children who will enjoy the playground during the 2019-2020 school year.
"This is what being family and #partofthepride is all about," Head Football Coach Wes Bell said. "It ensures that future wildcats have a safe place to play."
The team worked as a unit to form bucket brigades to haul the rubber and used shovels and rakes to level the surface.
"The maintenance department really appreciated the help," USD 490 Electrician Tony Goossen said.
USD 490 classes will resume on August 13, 2019.
