Students in El Dorado High School Extend's JAG-K program elected Lexie Edwards as the new president beginning in the fall of 2020.
Edwards submitted a speech via video recording and was elected by her peers to replace current student president Johanny Barazza after he graduates.
The JAG-K program helps students learn more about career and college options and encourages them to be active in the community.
"JAG-K is an opportunity for exploring ideas and helping others," Edwards said during her campaign speech.
Her campaign platform centered around wanting to promote the program to others and highlighted its judgement-free nature.
"It's okay if you don't know what you want to do yet," Edwards said. "There are a lot of high school students that still don't and JAG-K is a great way to explore your options."
Edwards will also serve as the Region Four Vice President, which includes all of the high schools in Wichita, El Dorado, and Augusta.
