USD 490 to host after school care beginning fall 2018

     The nationally recognized after school student enrichment provider, Right At School, is coming soon to USD 490.
     Starting in the fall of 2018, elementary schools will remain open every day after school until 6:00 p.m. to provide enrichment-based student support for all parents desiring this service for USD 490 students in Grades K-5. Before school care will be offered at the schools where there is a need for this service as well.

New tax policy allows tax payers to donate tax returns to local schools

       Due to a change in tax policy, a checkbox has been added to individual tax returns that allows tax payers to donate all or a portion of their tax return to their local school district.

EHS basketball players receive awards at tournaments

     Several EHS basketball players won awards at the Bluestem and Lady Cat Classic tournaments.
     The Bluestem Classic boys basketball tournament took place January 18-20. Jarin Koehler was included on the All-Tournament Team. Adam Haines was included on the All-Hustle Team.
     The Lady Cat Classic girls basketball tournament took place January 25-27. Madison Michaelis and Mallory Parsons were included on the All-Hustle Team.

EHS Debate team earns spot in prestigious 100 Club

     The high school debate team has earned a spot in the National Speech & Debate Association’s prestigious 100 Club. They are ranked in the top 21 percent of schools nationwide.

USD 490 receives Food Service Equipment grant

     USD 490 is one of only 10 districts in the state of Kansas to receive a 2017 Food Service Equipment Assistance Grant. The grant money will be used to purchase equipment that will turn Skelly’s existing satellite kitchen into a full-service location. This means that food can be stored and prepared on-site.

USD 490 superintendent reads to third grade class

     Lincoln students in Mrs. Raple's class enjoyed a surprise visit from Superintendent Sue Givens on January 25.
     Givens read Jangles: A BIG fish story by David Shannon. The third grade students were delighted by their mystery reader and the fishing gear she wore to compliment the story.
