Bond Update is a series of articles to inform patrons about the construction projects approved on the November 2, 2010 ballot: a new middle school on a new site and a new Skelly Elementary School on the Skelly site.
•  New Skelly School: Painting is finished and workers are hanging the ceiling grids and ceiling tiles in the 2nd-5th grade classroom areas. The punch list for these areas of the building will be complete around June 21st.
Installation of sheetrock and ductwork in the administration wing will be complete by May 4th. Plumbing rough-in is underway in the gym restrooms. All exterior glass has been installed and the remainder of the exterior doors will in place by mid-May. Work has begun on the retaining walls at the southwest corner of the building and along Arthur Street.
The construction site was recently selected for a random OSHA inspection and passed with flying colors with no violations or write-ups.
Demolition of the old building will start June 1st and be finished a few days after that. Excavation for the foundation of the remainder of the entryway and the parking lots on the east side of the building will begin around June 5th.

• New Middle School: April 16th construction began on the new middle school site. The top soil has been stripped off the building site and work has begun on the parking lot which will serve as temporary parking for construction workers. Next, work will begin on the building pad and in late May piers will be drilled and grade beams poured between the piers. Workers will start pouring the concrete foundation in late May.
