Notes from the Principal
On behalf of the Lincoln staff, I would like to wish all of our Lincoln families a Happy New Year. The first semester is at an end which means grade cards will be arriving at your house. They will be mailed on January 7th. Please watch for their arrival. Another activity that will start after the New Year will be our annual food drive. We have our food drive for the Salvation Army to help replenish their pantry after the holiday season. We will be collecting canned or boxed food items the week of January 12th. More information will be sent home along with an explanation of some incentives to participate. I know we will have an outstanding second semester at Lincoln.
Hoop Shoot
The Elks National "Hoop Shoot" Free Throw contest is open to all boys and girls ages eight to thirteen. the first step in this program is at the school level. the following students from Lincoln Elementary were the top three shooters in each division. They participated in the local lodge contest on December 6th at El Dorado Middle School. The winner of each age group advances to the district contest. Winners of each stage will continue to advance through state, regional and finally the national finals.

Lincoln participants: Kyle Thomas, Chance Castleman, Hunter Minium, Destiny Bowlin, Kaylee Hollis, Jill McCoy, Ridge Towner, Thomas LaRue, Colby Johnson, Hannah Hoch, Sydney Scanlon and Jessika Thomas.

Ridge Towner won the 8- 9-year-old boys division and Sydney Scanlon placed second in the 8- 9-year-old girls division. Congratulations to all of our Hoop Shoot participants.

Winter Weather
With our recent cold snap and snow on the ground, it is a reminder that we need to talk to the students about dressing for the weather. Please make sure that the students come prepared for outside recess with a coat, hat and gloves. At Lincoln, we will go outside for recess when the temperature and wind chill are above 20 degrees. It is also a good idea to mark your child's winter clothing with his/her name so that it can be returned if lost.
PTO News
Please join us for the first meeting of the New Year. The Lincoln/Jefferson PTO will meet at Lincoln Elementary on January 5th at 6:30 p.m. This is not a day that students have school, so be sure to mark your calendar now. We will meet in the cafeteria.

The annual Lincoln Geography Bee will be held on Thursday, January 8th at 1:30 p.m. The annual Lincoln Spelling Bee will be held on Thursday, January 22nd at 1:30 p.m. We hope you can come join us and support our students.

Current Address and Phone Numbers

The start of the second semester is a great time to update the school office on any address or phone number changes. Emergency contact information is critical in our efforts to provide a safe environment for your children.

Slumber Party

It's time to stay up all night! The Lincoln 4th and 5th graders are invited to spend the night at school on February 6th. Lincoln staff will provide supervision and fun activities for the evening.
