Improving safety in our schools is a goal of the USD 490 Board of Education. In addressing this goal our district has been revisiting our emergency procedures. To help students better prepare for emergencies we will be performing additional drills throughout the school year. We currently do a monthly fire drill and a quarterly tornado drill. In addition to these drills, we will be holding fall and spring relocation and shelter-in-place drills. Although we hope to never use the procedures in a real situation, it is our goal to help students become as familiar as possible with what to do in a variety of emergency situations.
