USD 490 receives perfect score on Transportation Safety Review
El Dorado Public Schools received a perfect score on their state Transportation Safety Review for the 2016-2017 school year.
Only 56 percent of Kansas school districts received a perfect score.
“School buses transport our most precious gift, our children, to and from school and [USD 490’s] achievement of a perfect score on the transportation safety review reflects highly upon [them], [their] staff and [their] school district,” Keith Dreiling, State Director at KSDE, said.
The Transportation Safety Review is an audit that carefully reviews the transportation department’s documentation and adherence to state safety policies.
They ensure that all bus drivers’ licenses are up-to-date and that they are complying with state Department of Transportation requirements such as requiring driver physicals, drug testing, CPR and first aid training, and that all drivers attend a Defensive Driving course.
The transportation department must also provide documentation to prove that they conducted bus evacuation drills with students in the spring an fall, and that drivers attend monthly safety meetings.
