PIE announces new fund
The Partners in Education Foundation is proud to announce a new fund created by Marie Hieger.
The Marie Hieger Endowed Fund will support the State Career and Technical Education Clusters in the Business Pathways of Finance, Marketing, Business Management and Administration Pathways at El Dorado High School. The fund will go towards the courses offered in these pathways and will be used to advance the student level of learning with additional resources and/or DECA activities.
Marie received her BA in education in 1959 from Marymount College in Salina, her BS in 1964 from Emporia State University and continuing education from Wichita State University, K-State University and Emporia State University.
She began her teaching career in business education at Wilson High School from 1959-1961, continued at Cherryvale High School from 1961-1963 and El Dorado High School from 1963-1989. She also taught night classes in business education at Butler Community College.
She is a life member of NEA. She has held the honor of Emporia State Teacher of the Year, Kansas Business Education Teacher of the Year and held many chapter offices in Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of the St. John’s Catholic Church in El Dorado. Marie was honored in 1993-94 to be inducted into the KSHSAA Hall of Fame. She currently resides in Salina, Kansas.
