Special Message from Superintendent of Schools Sue Givens:

For the first time, this year El Dorado Public Schools USD 490 will offer on-line fee payment using either your debit or credit card.  All school fees may be paid by this convenient method that will be explained in your mail-in enrollment packet.  Additionally, you will be able to pay on-line for school lunches and other school related expenses throughout the school year.

We are sorry to tell you there will be a delay in sending your mail-in enrollment packets.  Due to a change in federal requirements for submission of income-eligibility forms, we will be moving the packet roll-out to the week of July 20.  You will still be able to send in paperwork and fees with an early payment discount for fees paid in full after that time.  And of course, you can always choose walk-in enrollment at any of our schools on Tuesday, August 4, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  We apologize for the delay, but feel the confusion of separate mailings would be too inconvenient for parents.

Something else new this year will be our school calendar distribution.  A calendar will be mailed to every address in the USD 490 boundaries during the last week of July.  We hope this will help you plan earlier for school as well as further our determination to share events and activities with the broader community.  Parents of out of district students will also be mailed one calendar per household.  Due to this larger distribution, extra calendars will not be available except on the district's website. (See Calendars>Activity Cal.)

Finally, I want to invite everyone to our dedication of the new El Dorado High School on Sunday, August 16th, at 2 p.m.  There is much excitement about the completion of this beautiful facility and we know you are anxious to see it.  Due to last minute construction, cleaning and moving, the building is closed to visitors during the month of July, but we are eager to showcase it at the dedication and hope you will make plans now to attend.

Enjoy the remainder of your summer.  I hope to see you and your children at Prairie Port, the All Veteran’s Celebration, and our other community activities between now and the beginning of school.
